Historian
This book bored me to tears -- quite a feat for a book about vampires, a subject you'd assume would be at least somewhat interesting.

Travels in the Scriptorium
Interesting that you would say that...I was planning exactly this book to introduce myself to Auster. Do you recommend another for me to start with?

Unbearable Lightness of Being
Yes, the same thing happened with Blindness. It makes the book rather difficult to find if searching by author alone.

Confederacy of Dunces
I agree - brilliant period.

Unbearable Lightness of Being
I loved this book.
However, this is another example (along with Saramago's Blindness) of a book misrepresented by author. Milan Kundera should be listed as the author, not Heim.

History of Love
I also really liked it and enjoyed the poetic nature of the book. I didn't find the plot difficult at all, although it did leave me with some questions at the end. I would recommend it, though.

Blindness
I think Pontiero is the translator?? (Not sure.) But it should be changed to Saramago - no wonder I couldn't find it last week!
Overall, I loved Blindness (much more than The Cave, which I tried after this one.)
It was definitely intense in places -- definitely disturbing, but really eye-opening. I wasn't even bothered by the lack of paragraphs. I recommend to everyone; just be warned it's a little brutal in places.

Misfortune
Misfortune was so much fun to read - it was quite long but I couldn't put it down until I had finished the last page. I definitely recommend it!

Lovely Bones
I thought the second half of the book fell off a bit, but overall I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did.

Black Swan Green
I also thought it was great; of all Mitchell's works, I prefer Cloud Atlas, but I really liked Black Swan Green as well. I often accuse cover blurbs of being either exaggeration or utter lies, but I think Mitchell earned his praise with this one.
