Bone People

Bone People

One of Annie Proulx's fave books as well, and she knows a thing or two.

See, I know Tony hates this book, and I half expected him to post. I wonder if he fnished it. If he did, something must have drove him on to the denoument. I stand by this book forever. It also must be noted that when it won the Booker, the prize had nowhere near the clout it has now. Might explain the sales angle. I hope people read it, it is poetic, moving and unworldly. One of Annie Proulx's as well, and she knows a thing or two.

I love this book. It's a monster that makes you think of all sorts of stuff. A lot of people thinks it's a load of old puff. But one of the genuine deserved winners of the Booker in my mind.
Come on, lets have a mighty old windbag about it. Then all go for a nice walk up and down the beach.

Of Mice and Men

Of Mice and Men

I dont think he ever wrote a bad book. Of Mice and Men is his finest thouh. The perfect length. A true everlasting classic. His later work is freat and funny. Especially Travals With Charly.

Atonement

Atonement

I feel that I want to discus this book at length. I have avoided reading it for a long while. But now the film is out, I felt that it was time.

This book has had a profound affect on me. Beautifully written it is, but it's exploration into absolution via art is mesmerising. The epilouge left me breathless and raging. At odds with the old author who is slowly dying.

It is a masterpiece.

On the Road

On the Road

There are elements of this book that I still love. Some of it now seems redundent, but some of the writing is still the most beautiful that I have ever read. The train sequence with the hobos is like skiing down a hill on a star ridden night. Looking forward to the new edition to come out with the added scenes and name changes. It will no doubt make a mess of a messy book, but intereting all the same.

Cutting Room

I expected more from this. Though the atmosphere crackles, i expected it to be more greasy with the plot. Ellroy it is not.

War in the Playground

Yes Floyd.

I read it and had to have a long bath.

Dirty, dirty, dirty boy.
