This Book Will Save Your Life
Oh, I enjoyed it very much. It's a light read, so you will only be disappointed if you expect to much. It's a great book to take to the beach.

Middlesex
Oh YES! Great writing and a great story. I'm so glad I finally picked it up. Unforgettable! In fact, I will probably read it again in the future.

Suite Francaise
Beautifully written and definitely a "suite" with themes weaving in and out musically. Amazing read that I will probably turn to again and again.

Road
it definitely has a strong impact. The relationship between father and son is fascinating. Sometimes I couldn't tell which was which (especially given the way it was written). Don't think I could read it again, though.

Atonement
Thankfully, I saw the movie after reading the book. They did a great job putting it on film; it was visually gorgeous! I can understand, however, not wanting to plow through the book when you know the story. I'm sure it just doesn't seem necessary to finish. ....and maybe it isn't.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
Beautiful, touching, heartbreaking, educational, simply wonderful. My mom gave it to me as it is one of her favorites also. Can't praise it enough!

Down These Mean Streets
Couldn't put it down! Great writing, true, autobiographical account of the author's growing up and becoming a drug dealer, drug user, thief, and ultimately an inmate in prison after shooting a policeman during a robbery. Quite raw and revealing of his inner torment and struggle to survive. And, indeed he did -- he's a wonderful writer!

Island
Just finished and must say I enjoyed it. Totally disagree with tcook, but that's cool. I give it 8/10, and list it as one of my favorites.

End of Mr Y
I have not read this -- hadn't heard of it until now. However, the description sounds strangely similar to "Shadow of the Wind." Has anyone read both and can enlighten me as to how different they must be?

Woman in Jerusalem
I'm not sure what to think of this book. A Russian woman living in Jerusalem dies in a sucide bombing and is the catalyst for an incredible journey. In some ways, believe it or not, this was a comedy. But, ultimately, it is an amazing character study of the man who feels responsible for her.
