The story of Barney, a solitary eight-year-old, who befriends a cave man after tumbling into the disused chalk pit which he has claimed as his home. Barney names his friend Stig and together they raid the rubbish dump at the bottom of the pit, enjoying a series of adventures along the way.

Posted by amz310783 (1 year ago ) I had to read this book for school at a young age, I didn't really appreciate it then, could hardly remember any of it to be honest, so when I bought a set of books for my son and it was in there I re-read it, and I loved it more than I did as a kid.
