Trainspotting
Irvine Welsh
A jarring, fragmented ride through the dark underbelly of Edinburgh, the festival city. There is not an advocate, a festival performer or a fur coat in sight as, with bitter passion and rancid humour, Welsh lays bare the lives of this ill-starred bunch of addicts, alcoholics and no-hopers.

A fantastic book, which sends you through the full gamut of emotions. I think its fair to say that Mr welsh has not come close to writing a sunsequent book of this quality either in the style of writing or achieving the same sympathy for his characters. Did he write this book?
I am loving this book, even though some words are hard to understand, you get used to it once you start reading it out aloud, or in your head. It's a very entertaining book, and keeps you interested, at least so far. I'm lucky to have an edition of the book which has a small glossary on the last pages, so the really weird words and their meaning are there. If you're going to buy this book try buying the one which cover is the same as the movie's poster.
I just found it really hard going having to read the book phonetically, and i don't think it really added to the story - unlike something like clockwork orange (with its made up words) which I loved
