Age of Consent
George Monbiot
In this text, George Monbiot sets out to offer a set of proposals - political, democratic, economic and environmental - that might effect the cultural change that many in the West (not to mention those on the outside of the West looking in) now want but scarcely know how to make happen.

Puts forth some compelling arguments and ideas, but tends to gloss over, or reemphasizes some choice pieces of information,. It is a sweeping testimony for social change, and rather pragmatic in approach, but there were too many "yes but"'s left unanswered. I agree that something has to be done to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, and the idea of capitalism and investing in money, as opposed to people is wrong thinking; however a sweeping indictment of debt is a too easy. Brazil is a case study of countries getting out of debt, so all is not lost. It does make it harder, but there needs to be a system o f checks and balances since we all share this planet.
The most poignant art of the book was about doing something, and doing it now as opposed to navel gazing and waiting for someone else to do it.
