Still Life with Woodpecker
Tom Robbins
This is a sort of a love story that takes place inside a pack of Camel cigarettes. It reveals the purpose of the moon, and paints a portrait of contemporary society that includes powerful Arabs, exiled royalty and pregnant cheerleaders. It also deals with the problem of redheads.

Maybe not the best Robbins book, but still entertaining with lots of memorable lines and indelible ideas. The packaging of Camel cegarettes becomes a religious sight to meditate on from time to time after reading this book... whoa.
I adore Robbins but this is his worst book. It's set inside the world on the front of a pack of Camel cigarettes and basically tries to be too clever. It disappears up its own bottom
