Night in the Lonesome October
Richard Laymon
Ed is 20 years old and a sophomore at Wilmington University. He's also been dumped by his girlfriend. Lonesome and broken-hearted, he decides to go for an aimless late-night walk. But he has no idea of the strange people he is about to meet. If Ed's not careful, he's not going to make it home.

Another great book. I love RL for total escapism. His writing is very easy on the brain and very entertaining. This book is just full of marvels and twists. I was totally drawn in to the wonderful night-time world of Ed.
Laymon was one of the writers I grew up with, our relationship ten years and more, and it's always been a volatile one. And still I love his work, especially this novel, which has gratuitious violence, graphic sex, odd characters, and a certain queasy feel to it. But despite this, the novel has enormous heart and passion in it, and this seals it for me. Don't be put off, dive in, and if you can handle the swim around in the murk, you;ll find the pearls among the oysters.
