Free Lunch
David Smith
'There's no such thing as a free lunch' is the one phrase everyone has heard from economics. But why not? Never? What does economics tell us about the price of lunch - and everything else in the world?

A readable, informative introduction to economics. It covers all the interesting topics (house prices; 3rd world debt) and the big name theorists from Adam Smith to Milton Friedman. It's deliberately formula-free.
(Actually, I found myself yearning for some graphs and had to supplement it with a proper economics text book, geek that I am).
