Posted by Avocatore (1 year ago ) I grew up reading the Sue Townsend books, and they were definitely an education of a sort. Clumsy teenage syntax just about disguises Townsend's politically astute satire while illustrating the least charismatic but most familiar hero you are likely to read. I never had a 'thing' to measure, but I sympathised with Adrian's Growing Pains and his social misadventures.
Well worth a look.
