Book Thief
Markus Zusak
Presents a story about, among other things: a girl, some words, an accordionist, a Jewish fist fighter, and thievery. This book also tells the story of the citizens of Molching. It is a tale of the cruel twists of fate and the coincidences on which all our lives hinge.

I have just finished this book and am very grateful my colleague left for lunch a while ago and so I was in the office by myself.
All the while reading through this gentle, captivating story I kept wondering if I was enjoying it as much as the hype around it said I would. While I was wondering that though, the characters and the story were becoming real to me.
Although a lot of the ending was inevitable I have been sitting at my desk with big, fat tears rolling down my face and sobbing - proper body shaking sobs, not just gentle, polite tears.
What a magical story. You come to care for the characters, who are all so beautifully described. Death, the narrator, has feelings and fantastic sense of irony.
I thoroughly recommend this book.
