Confederacy of Dunces
John Kennedy Toole
Ignatius Reilly, the hero, is a grotesque Gargantua, in violent revolt against the entire twentieth century and what he takes to be the manifold excesses and perversions of the past 400 years. He lumbers through New Orleans leaving chaos in his wake.

What a brilliant book. Its fresh, totally hillarious and unlike anything I've ever read- I've read it 3 times;). A must have copy on your shelf:)
A boy book? What on earth makes it that? It's just a brilliant book!
It's a boy book - but brilliant. I don't think any other book has made me laugh so much.
The story behind this book is as good as the book itself - and it's a brilliant novel. The author sent it around to every publisher and agent in the USA and got nowhere. He sadly committed suicide in despair - but his mother found the book. She wished to know if her son had died in vain and sent the book to the Professor of English at Harvard. He read it and believed it to be a great work of fiction. With a recommendation like that behind it, it was quickly published, won the Pulitzer prize and has been lauded ever since. There will be no follow-up. A great, great book and one that everyone should read at some stage in their lives.
