'Cinderella' has to be the most popular panto. performed by amdram groups but my theatre group despaired of finding a decent script which wasn't the product of a professional theatre. Scripts from professional theatres are all too often heavily geared toward the 'stars' who originally featured in them. This version of Cinders was written for a community group and is great: there's a good storyline, with a couple of neat twists along the way, plenty of comedy business and it's great fun, with lots of audience participation! Plus, Cinders Or 'Ella' isn't just a cipher Principal Girl; she has character and the audience really rooted for her in our show. Oh, and the Uglies can as easily be played by a couple of strong comedy actresses as by men, as the script isn't too heavy on double-entendres and innuendo.
If you're looking for a good Cinderella script, try this one - the author is really helpful, too and helped us with music suggestions and SFX.
