Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen
The stories featured in the "Compact Classics" series are some of the best ever written. They have been carefully adapted and structured to aid language development. The stories are told in a way which is both lively and true to the feeling of the original text.

Hellooooo...Mr. Darcy. Need I say more? Oh yeah, Colin Firth in a wet shirt (Bridget Jones ain't the only one who noticed, hmmmm).
I didn't like the movie, the BBC-series was much better - near perfect. Colin Firth is much more remarkable a Mr. Darcy than ... who was that in the movie?
just read this after watching the movie and thouroughly enjoyed. Some books ar timeleass.
A dangerous book that was revolutionary in its time . Its message of marrying for romantic love continues to seduce the reader in our time.
Her dialogue and character protrayal are simply delightful.
I'm glad that Jane Austen is rearing her head. I believe that she is the finest English novelist. Her construction is as good as it gets. Her use of the language is immaculate and her ability to portray the 'small world' of the female of her time is perfect. I think that she set the trend for English novelists to write 'small' books whilst the Americans write 'big' ones - I'm talking scope, not length!
There are those who detest her though. I just cannot understand it.
I totally agree. I just re-read this book and am delighted to say that I enjoyed it as much as the last time. She writes with such eloquence and beautiful description it is hard not to be absolutely captivated.
