As a new convert to Islam and someone who is truly fascinated by language, I found this book to be indispensable to understanding nuance in spiritual language, whether Arabic or English. "The Book of Language" provides definitions for Islamic concepts and explains their spiritual context. Arabic is "deeper" than English, as well as eminently more powerful in breadth of meaning. The reader will discover that while it is possible to provide English definitions of Arabic words, in many instances no word in English is available to do justice to the concept conveyed.
