I really like the book but it couldn't hold my attention in print. I pride myself on being a good reader/narrator so I'm guessing it's just Bryson's phrasing that throws me off in this book. Anyway, I picked up the audio version and thoroughly enjoyed it to the end.

i had similar experience with this one, but i dropped at chapter 3. i wander is this an intelligence test or an endurance test (astrophysicist excluded) ;)

I was doing OK with this until about chapter 5 and the particle rotation bit. It confused the hell out of me and I put it aside. That was about 6-years ago...
