In a remote Himalayan cave a group of tourists led by an American guide find the mummified corpse of an RAF flyer. Before they can investigate, all except the guide are massacred. In Bosnia, a patrol investigates a disturbance at a mass grave site and catches a fleeting glimpse of a creature straight out of a medieval morality play.

Jeff Long creates a marvellous alternate world within the confines of our own environment. Using our mythology and religion, he rewrites history with a superb twist.
The story is fantastic and keeps you hooked with every page. Long weaves a story of mystery, intrigue and fantasy in a masterly fashion. Although The Descent will probably never be tagged as a Classic, it is brilliant!
