Alchemist
Paulo Coelho
A fable teaching the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, and the importance of following our dreams above all else.

It's just a story about a boy. Anything else that you think it's about is a projection of your own journey through life, which is why I give it to my clients when they need help finding their way.
I haven't read any other Coelho books, this was recommended by my partner its his favourite book. If you like it you should read 'The Prophet' by Khalil Gibran, the Alchemist pales in comparison
I wouldn't describe it as pointless, but because of the much-hyped idea of profundity, it fell short of my expectations. I don't know whether that means that the book is poor or I shouldn't listen to hype. Possibly both.
I enjoyed it as a light read; the story was simplistic and a little predictable, but there's no harm in that. Coelho's language is accessible and I enjoyed the evocation of African and Euro-continental life. Something in the nomadism of the principal character appealed to me, although there isn't much in the way of psychological depth. This seems like more of a fable than anything else.
The 'message', if there is one, of self-determination and freedom isn't a new one. It didn't vastly alter my perception of space, time or philosophy.
Just sit back and give it an afternoon. It'll either be an epiphany for you, or just a pleasant waste of time. Which is no bad thing.
It is a Persian story that i think he is stole it and write to ours!
Your all talking rubbish :) Its a lovely book - with the brilliant message of "you are not your job" ...
Cod pseudo-philosophy and spiritualism at it's most obvious and dull. Really, what was the point?
This book made me think so much. I really love books with a message to the storyline.
